Leader Info

 Adult to Student Ratio

We require one adult for every seven students (1:7) per gender. If you do not have seven students, we still require one adult per gender.

  • Adult leaders must be finished with their sophomore year of high school and exemplify mature, Christ-like behavior, and have ministry to youth as a primary interest.

  • Adult Leader & Children Notice: Regarding your family, we do not allow children/infants to attend events.  If your child is registered as a participant within the targeted age group, that is totally okay!

Transportation

Groups are responsible for arranging their own transportation to and from Power Connection; groups may either drive their own vehicles, rent vans, or sign up to ride a charter bus sponsored by the Synod.

Synod Bussing

Youth leaders have the option to sign groups up for busing through the Synod of the Heartland. Bus transportation sponsored by the Synod are based on a first come, first serve basis. To sign up, select accordingly when creating your group on Brushfire. Bussing costs will be reflected on the group invoice.
Cost: $75 / person

  • Due to varying distance and location, different areas will have different charges.

Once all bus reservations have been collected, youth groups will be notified of the exact time and location of their pick-up.

Buses must be filled to near capacity to be most cost-effective.  We try to keep youth groups together on the same bus; some groups may be split up in order to fill the buses to capacity.

If two or more youth groups ride the same bus, the group living in pick-up location is the group that will be split.  This decision was based on the fact that group(s) who travel have a disadvantage over the group being picked up in their hometown.

We try to create the least amount of pick-up points. This means some groups will have to travel to the pick-up point.

We will keep the group splits to a minimum!  We try to avoid it altogether if possible, but special situations may require some flexibility and understanding.  Busing for Synod events is a HUGE organizational project.

In the case of higher fuel costs, Synod of the Heartland reserves the right to pass along extra fuel costs to churches using Synod busing.

We will make every effort to accommodate busing requests. However, if the numbers of riders or geographical limitations do not make it economically feasible to offer busing, we reserve the right to refund 100% of busing deposit and ask and assist you to find alternative transportation.

Buses contracted by the Synod will also be used to transport participants throughout the event to various recreation activities.  This cost is not passed onto the youth groups; it is added to the cost of each individual recreation option.
